A Day Full of Childhood and Adulthood

So, today started with me teaching my class
Which I consider very adult. I even dressed nice.
At this point, I headed back to my room.
Dragon Tales was on... which so happens to be one of my favorite PBS shows
And it was one of the old ones... which are the best.

For those who don't know, let me break this down.
Each Dragon Tales Episode has 2 stories,
And in between them, they do what's called "Dragon Tunes"
Dragon Tunes is a chance for kids to get up and dance in between

Today's song, though not one of my favorites, was "Do-do-do-Doodly"
Which encourages you to, "Hop like a bunny hops/Rock like a rocking chair,/
Spin like a spinning top/Dance like a dancing bear."
And you best believe I did all of these, and when I was done, took a bow.

After the show, I napped, then went downstairs to speak with my boss about jobs.
I got my descriptions and had questions about the positions I was interviewing for.
Then, I went to the graduation fair, got all that taken care of,
And bought my cap and gown... Which are now in my closet.

Now, I'm eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and reminiscing about old television.
Have an awesome day!

AMAZING Couple Weeks

As the title suggests, I've had a very good few weeks.
Last Thursday was my interview with the graduate school here,
And long story short, I've been admitted into the program.
My mother actually told me she's proud of me... it was a good day.

I went home the past weekend, and Jess played my song for me.
We went to Coventry and to Tower City, which was lovely.
We're generally not a couple that does fun things together...
We mostly just sit around....

But Friday night, we went out to do karaoke
And we won Cavs tickets doing it, which was really exciting
So we're going to the game on Thursday.
I've never been to a game before, so I'm very happy about it.

For now, I'm going over to Bree and AJ's to make cinnamon rolls.
I hope you're all even as remotely happy as I am.

Don't They Understand College Kids Don't Have Money?

So, I think I'm coming to the root of why some kids have no money.
Granted, there are some that drink and party, and that's where their money goes.

Mine does not. I'm not much of a drinker, and I've never been a partier
My money is going towards textbooks...

Today, my total at the bookstore came to $451.65
Which is completely outrageous...
After a $150.00 book scholarship, I still ended up paying $273 something
This doesn't count the two other books I managed to get on clearance because a bookstore in town was closing
And it doesn't count the two other books that are on order in the bookstore.

Nor does it count the course packets a lot of teachers require.
We have this place in town called Wordsmiths, which is a lot like a Kinkos.
Basically, they put together pages of readings, and charge you upwards of $30 for them...

This is why I have no money.

Steps Towards Becoming a Grown-Up

So tonight I finally got everything together and submitted my application for grad school...
I have mixed feelings about this... I'm really glad it's done with.
I've been stressing about getting everything together for months.
On the other hand, now I'm completely full of doubts...
The process is no longer in my hands... I just have to wait to hear from them.

I mean, what if I waited too long?
Or I forgot something in the application?
What if my references don't get done on time?
Or my personal statement isn't good enough?

It's gonna be a stressful time until I figure out...

Books for 2009

Final count: 43

Better than last year, but I still didn't make the 50 that I wanted to...

So I'll be trying yet again...

What a Year...

Sorry it took me so long to post again...
Winter break is in full swing
And it gets hectic at times... I haven't had energy for blogging.

Things are going well, except for a little blip here or there...
Christmas was lovely. Everyone was really happy with the gifts they got
And I was glad I'd made good choices.
I actually managed to send some Christmas cards too
Which was nice.

I got a lot of really nice stuff too. Everyone was so generous and thoughtful.
I feel so special and privileged to have such wonderful friends and family.

I have to go... Exhausted and trying to stay awake long enough for midnight rounds.
Have a Happy New Year!
